Non-Profit
We’ll focus on your finance strategy,
so you can focus on your mission.
The key to non-profit organizational success is operational efficiencies and resource allocation. With the Capossela Cohen team, building a financial foundation will help you focus on the work that matters most, serving your organization’s purpose.
With a variety of partners and staff members serving on boards and being active members of a variety of organizations, our team has first-hand experience and knowledge of the challenges presented to non-profits.
We will work with your team to create a solutions-based approach to optimize resources and funds through audit and assurance services, full-service bookkeeping, and employee benefit plan audits, if necessary.
Allocation and Tracking
Our experience and expertise in the non-profit sector offer clients the utmost confidence in our team’s review and tracking of grants and donor funds. We can assist in preparing functional expense allocation cost schedules for optimal spending and tracking. Accurately reporting and allocating donor funds is a crucial function played in the overall operations of a non-profit organization. We can help guide our clients through the regulations and requirements of grant spending by tracking donor-restricted contributions and grant balances as funds are spent to remain in financial compliance as funds are allocated to the appropriate resources.
Non-profit Form Filing
We can assist in preparing Form 1023 filings to apply for tax-exempt status. In addition, we can prepare audited, reviewed, or compiled financial statements and prepare and file Form 990, and any related state filings, for financial compliance with federal and state non-profit organization requirements.
First-Hand Experience
Several of our partners proudly serve on the boards of various local non-profit organizations throughout our community.
Nathaniel Yordon serves on Open Doors and Connecticut Housing Partners board.
David Fuchs is the president of the Mill River Country Club.
Joseph Barranca is on the Audit Committee of The Connecticut Yankee Council (Boy Scouts).
Miriam Costa serves on the Parish Council and is the parish finance officer for St. Mark Roman Catholic Church.
